Supporting evidence
- According to a July, 2005 Energy Information Administration report, at or near peak production (in 2025 if legislation had been passed in 2005), Arctic Refuge oil would make up only 8/10 of 1 percent (0.8 percent) of world oil production and only 3 percent of U.S. oil consumption.
- According to David Butcher 11/21/06, James Kendell, one of the authors of the July, 2005 EIA study, said the refuge would add to domestic production, but "when you’re talking of a world oil market of over 75 million barrels a day, adding 900,000 barrels by 2025 is a drop in the bucket."
