Background and context

In 2002, the movie adaptation of the short story "Rabbit-proof fence" by Doris Pilkington Garimara came out. As with other books which have been made into movies, the question arises whether or not the movie is a good adaptation of the book.

I think the movie was good, because the scenery was real. The movie was really made in the australian desert. (Lea II)

In the movie and in the book was to much traded with feelings, not with speech. This was especially shown when they walked back to Jingalong. In the book, all was imagined, and in the movie it was a bit boring. (Fabian II)

"Rabbit-Proof-fence" is a good adaptation of the book ,because the actors who acted Molly, Gracie and Daisy did their job very good. For example the scene, where they were taken away from their aboriginal families. (Marvin)

Con

The film was also bad, because some scenes which were in the book, weren`t shown in the film. For example the scene in which the three girls slept in a rabbit hole.(Paul)

I think the movie is good, because it's a true story and so is the movie more emotial and the actors was able to shown their expressoins. For exaple when the girls were taken away from their mothers, it was really emotional. (Isabel)

The book is adapted well because in many scenes you can feel how the people feel for example the situation, when the three girls were fetched from Jigalong, I felt how sad and angry the parents were.(lorenz I)

Con

The book is adapted not so good because the situation of their lifes seventy years later was very short They only showed the two old woman and said one short sentence. But they didn't tell us about the author. If they had done that, I´d have a better view about the story´s background yet. (Lorenz II)

The movie is good, because you can feel how Molly, Gracie and Daisy feel, for example when they walk home. (Hanna II)

The movie isn't good, because some scenes were in the movie, which weren't in the book. For example: The girls were taken into a cage when they were taken from their families. (Jacqui II)
