Standards:Questions Asked and Documents Requested During Accreditation

Demonstrating a Credible, Stable Infrastructure

Please attach the following documents:

  • Scan or PDF of official registration documents.
  • English-language copy of the statutes and by-laws of your organization (note: this need not be a certified translation prepared by an attorney. A clear, quality English translation is sufficient).
  • Names, addresses, and e-mail contact information of board members.
  • Calendar of all board meetings in the past year.
  • Financial statements, following generally accepted accounting principles for the most recent year these are available.
  • List of major contributors and partners, the type of support provided and contact information for them.
  • Mission and vision statement.
  • Long-range strategic program and fundraising plan (optional).

The Member is Legally Registered

  • What is the official name of your organization?
  • What is the structure of your organization? membership organization, not-for-profit corporation, public institution, university, non-membership based service provider, division of a larger non-debate focused NGO, other.
  • Please provide contact information for your organization: postal address, e-mails, telephone numbers.
  • Is your organization legally registered?
  • With which government agency or ministry are you registered?

The Member Has an Independent Board of Directors

  • Does your organization have an independent board of directors or another group of individuals with authority to oversee the NGO?
  • Please provide contact information and curriculum vita for each member of your board of directors.

The Member is Financially Secure

  • Are your financial statements audited?
  • Do you have a paid, full-time coordinator for your organization?
  • How many volunteers and volunteer hours have been logged during the last year in each of the following areas: trainers, coaches, camp organizers, accounting, public relations, curriculum or program development, judging, fundraising, internal communications/ coordinating?

The Member Has Effective Participant Communication

  • In each of the following categories, who is the most knowledgeable contact person (staff or volunteer): trainers, coaches, camp organizers, accounting, public relations curriculum or program development, judging, fundraising, internal communications/coordinating? Please provide names, phone, and e-mail information.
  • Is information on trainers, coaches, camp organizers, accounting, public relations curriculum or program development, judging, fundraising, internal communications/coordinating being disseminated to members? How?
  • Does your organization have a Web site? What is the URL? How often is it updated?
  • What is your primary means of communicating with members?

The Member Offers Fundamental Speech and Debate Education

Trainings for Teachers, Coaches and Judges

  • Please assemble and attach an activity report from the most recent year listing the events, trainings and programs coordinated by your organization during the previous twelve months. Include descriptions of events, dates, locations, names of coordinators, and number of individuals involved.
